About Vinland Elementary School

Vinland Elementary School proudly serves approximately 650 students from Preschool through 6th grade. As the home of the Vinland Hawks, we are a vibrant and resilient school community committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students. About 91% of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 13% are English learners, and a small percentage are unhoused or in foster care-making our work deeply rooted in equity, compassion, and opportunity for all. We are also proud to offer a Special Education (SPED) Mild–Moderate(MM) Resource Specialist Program (RSP) and MM Special Day Class (SDC) programs, providing specialized support and individualized instruction to ensure all learners can thrive and succeed.

At Vinland, we believe that every day matters. One of our top priorities is improving student attendance because we know that when students are present, they are actively learning, building confidence, and making meaningful progress. Daily attendance allows students to stay connected, engaged, and on track to reach their full potential.

In addition, we are focusing on strengthening literacy skills through daily reading. Reading consistently helps expand vocabulary, deepen comprehension, and build critical thinking skills. We encourage families to support this goal by building daily reading habits at home-whether through shared stories, independent reading, or exploring favorite books together. These small, consistent efforts lead to powerful, long-term results.

Vinland Elementary is also proud to offer enriching opportunities beyond the classroom. Such as our Chess Club that has achieved success and recognition in local competitions. We also encourage student involvement in quarterly sports programs to promote teamwork and physical wellness.

We deeply value our community partnerships, which enhance student learning and well-being. Local churches provide mentoring support, Fresno State partners with us for mentoring and tutoring, and collage Kinesiology students work alongside our children to promote health, fitness, and active lifestyles.

We are committed to an educational setting filled with growth, achievement, and celebration. As we continue to partnership and support students together, and ensure that every Vinland Hawk has the opportunity to succeed and soar.
